Hi guys I was just wondering if your volunteering somewhere ( hospital) and have patient contact can that count as both volunteer and clinical or just 1 or the other?
I'm getting worried that all my experience is clinical and won't count as volunteer if that's the case. Last summer I had about 40 hours volunteering on a trauma recovery floor. The days I was there I'd go in check on the patient, ask if they needed anything and bring them something if they did, but I also did stuff that wasn't patient related like call insurance companies and restock gloves and stuff in rooms.
Also this summer is was volunteering at the children's ER. I'd help check patients in take them to the back get their weight and escort them to their rooms. Also I transported patients to x-Ray , CT scans, etc. would this be considered just volunteering or clinical and volunteering?
Thanks!
Also is shadowing clinical too or is that in a whole nothing category ?

This sounds like clinical to me. You could always try to separate the hours spent with patients and categorize that as clinical volunteering, and the hours spent doing paper work, restocking, answering calls, etc. and categorize that as non clinical volunteering. However, considering you have only 40 hours I'm not sure how this would benefit you at all.
And shadowing is not clinical volunteer experience. Its shadowing experience and should be in its own category.
