Hey guys,

I am a Canadian student and am about to begin my application through AMCAS. In Canada, most medical schools allow for third year applicants to apply. Do most American medical schools allow you to apply even if you have not completed 4 years of university? If so, is it because they require 4 years of course work or a degree in general?

I was not able to find the answer after searching comprehensively via search engines. I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks in advance.

American med schools accept applications from students who have completed 3 years of university and who anticipate university graduation before medical school matriculation.
Thank you. Does that mean that I may apply as an applicant who is earning a 3 year degree in Psychology by May 2017?

Is it a Bachelor's Degree?
Yes, it is a BA in Psyc. There is even an option to transition into a 4 year BSc. in Psyc if needed. However, I intend to apply this year.

It should be fine. Take the MCAT the first time like you mean it (it's different than Canada).

Excellent. Thank you very much. I have already written the MCAT and am waiting for the results which will be released on July 6th. In the mean time, I am practicing my interview skills and filling out the AMCAS form.

Buy the MSAR.
There are 62 MD schools that consider internationals.
Eliminate all of them that matriculated less than 4.
Eliminate the mission-based schools unless you fit the mission.
Identify the remaining ones where the median MCAT is near yours.
Good luck.
