hi, guys..I'm just curious about something...Usually you'll get your Pharm.D. after 4 years, but I heard that if you want to work at hospital/clinical positions, you need to continue school for one more year..Is that true?? Do you have to re-apply or 5th year is opened for everyone who wishes to study more??? :luck:

You can always go for more school. You can always find positions that require more school. If that suits you, go for it.

IMHO, why bother. It is much nicer to get paid for your time. When a specialty positon catches your eye that requires blah blah extra schooling you can aim for it later. Location is everything. The advanced degree required
by an institution in San Francisco or Seattle may not be required in rural Oregon or Kentucky for the same job. The advanced degree might not net you any more money. It can even pay less(!)

A colleague of mine just left Walgreens for a position in nuclear pharmacy. They are training him. All he has is his basic PharmD.
