Can you split an EC between MD & MD/PhD?

I have a ~400 hour clinical hands on EC I did all summer in a cancer department of a hospital that is also a research based. On my app would I be able to put it down as clinical experience when applying MD, and then research when applying MD/PhD? Or is that not even necessary?

The W&A section on the primary will be one and the same whether or not you decide to submit a mixed app (some MD, some MD/PhD). I’d personally list it as clinical experience if this was a patient facing clinical research role but I defer to Cat’s opinion.

Are your referring to an AMCAS application?

The same AMCAS application goes to both types of programs, but I see no reason why your Research Essay for MD/PhD couldn't include it, if you use a Clinical Experience entry for the activity, as you will have mentioned that the patient interaction occurred in the context on of an on-going research project.

You also have the option of splitting out the experience components (and separate hours) and using two spaces with different tags.
