Hi,

I'm thinking about applying to Canadian schools in 08(i know i still have a lot of time), but I know nothing about them..Can I use the US DAT score for Canadian dental schools? Also, is it harder to get in, generally, compared to the US schools? What is the average GPA/DAT scores? Thanks so much!

Hey

You should post the above queries in the "Pre-dental" forum and people there will be able to help you out. You should also go to various schools' Faculty of Dentistry websites and find out. That's the best way. Since I grew up in Canada, I can well tell you that it's way, way more difficult to get into a Canadian dental school compared to an US school due a relatively small number of dental schools present in Canada and small class size compared to those in the US, unfortunately. I think to be competitive, you must have a GPA of at least 3.6-3.7 (at least for the University of Toronto- whose average GPA is around 3.7-3.8, anyway). I'm not really sure if you can use the US DAT for the Canadian schools. From what I knew from "my time", you can't, but things could have changed over the years. Good luck!!!!
