on their website they said as long as the undergrad was completed in North America then it's acceptable. I did my undergrad in McGill, if I've already come this far then I don't think that's the case.My bad—I meant post secondary! Tufts accepts Canadians who completed their post secondary in the US, no?

No, Mexico is part of North America too ( you went to McGill, right?) their website states:
And that is what the Dean told me when I called them. I actually confirmed it today.
- "Applicants must either be a US citizen or Permanent Resident or an international student that has or will complete a bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited college/university in the United States."

So I phoned Tuft back in the summer and asked if they will take Canadian university and admissions said no, must be in United States not in Canada so not Canadian university and not McGill. I phoned and also emailed Carmen Woodruff at Tuft and got same answer. What edible you confirm? That Canadian applicants can’t apply or the above?
There are 2 Excel files on ADA website that anyone can access "Survey of Dental Education: report 1" "SDE1...final" for years 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 that list # of Canadians accepted by different universities ( Table 12 even has break down by province) and Tuft does not list any Canadians. So I phoned Tuft back in the summer and asked if they will take Canadian university and admissions said no, must be in United States not in Canada so not Canadian university and not McGill. For future Canadian applicants that r looking for some advice: I just checked above files . Both files have good info for future Canadian applicants to US schools. All future Canadian applicants should research well data available and reach out to present students and read all the threads. All records show that number of Canadians in US dental school is shrinking especially this year. Just because a dental school tells you to apply you should not without checking how many Canadians they accepted in previous years or even this year and who was rejected or placed on a never ending WL which is basically same as a rejection ( just search recent threads). Many schools told me to apply but then records show they never accepted a Canadian (or maybe only 1 in few years so they can say they have international students). There are only very few US dental schools that accept Canadians. US Dental schools do not treat Canadians on the same level as their own, many great Canadian applicants are rejected, there are very few considered for few spots. Do research otherwise you might be wasting lots of your money and creating unnecessary hope. US dental schools ( & medical as well) are not as friendly as 10 or 5 years ago. I say that based on the records that I requested from ADEA ( they will provide it to you if you ask) and other sources. I have data in regards to Irish and Australian dental schools and those are more welcoming to Canadian students and chances of acceptances are much higher (some also cheaper). There are 2 Excel file on ADA website that anyone can access "Survey of Dental Education: report 1" "SDE1...final" for years 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 that lists # of Canadians accepted by different universities ( Table 12 even has break down by province) and Tuft does not list any Canadians.
When did youn apply? Becasue I wanna take my DAT in july and everyone keeps telling me that its too late. I have 3.7 GPA and AA 22 canadian DAT , PAT 18My GPA was around 3.7, DAT scores ~21 (almost failed QR, I can't with the imperial system), average ECs (volunteering, leadership, research, the usual stuff), poor shadowing hours (~50), and very poor interview skills. I wrote my American DAT in September, and that didn't do me any favours. I applied to around a dozen Canadian friendly schools (aka the private schools and ridiculously expensive public schools). I just got accepted this year, so I can't give any feedback on the dental school experience yet. And yes, I do plan on moving back to Canada to practice eventually.
I stalked the pre-dental forums extensively before applying, and I've seen accepted Canadian applicants with GPA in the low 3.0s to applicants with GPAs in the 3.9s. US schools do look at your application holistically. Your acceptance will be based on a number of factors, so don't be discouraged if one of your stat is below average. =)
Don't re-take a 22When did youn apply? Becasue I wanna take my DAT in july and everyone keeps telling me that its too late. I have 3.7 GPA and AA 22 canadian DAT , PAT 18
My PAT is really lowDon't re-take a 22
Do you think I should apply with my Canadian DAT?My PAT is really low
It's an okay PAT score. PAT is usually the least looked at score. My PAT is really low
which schools did you get into ? if you dont mind me asking. I'm applying with similar stats and was wondering where to applyYou're also not a Canadian applicant so you shouldn't be speaking either then. I got into 4 american dental schools with a 3.2 and 22 dat. Anything is possible. Make sure your well rounded. People that just say stuff without backing it up piss me off.
Do you think I should apply with my Canadian DAT?

I am just saying to future Canadian applicants: do your research, ask lots of questions, reach out to other Canadian students in dental schools before you waste your money and time and also consider other options as Ireland & Australia (if you can't stay in Canada) or maybe even an European country. I know someone who went to an European country , got in very easily, came back and had to redo last 2 years ( easy to get in as well) and was a dentist in Ontario within 6 years without too much hassle and much lower cost.
Research well, compare stats & make an educated decision that suites you the best.
You have good statsThanks for your informative post.
What do you recommend canadian do? I know that there are great option in Australia and Europe, but I think many of canadian prefer to study in US cause US dental schools are really good and we dont have to redo the last two years.
Which schools do you recommend us to apply for? I’m from UBC 3.72 cGPA aDAT: AA22 PAT 21
Dear @cystinosis , thanks a lot for your help. All these schools are on my list plus UPenn, Pacific, Tufts, Boston, Creighton, MWU-AZ, MWU-IL, and USC, temple, RutgersYou have good stats
Apply only to schools where Canadians are actually accepted otherwise they just take you cash without caring!
Apply to Nova, Detroit, Case Western, Minnesota, NY, Michigan if you have some research Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania , maybe Buffalo
I think these are best choices,
The rest just take your $$, they never accept Canadians.
Detroit takes the most but they get lots of Canadian applications too
Dear @cystinosis , thanks a lot for your help. All these schools are on my list plus UPenn, Pacific, Tufts, Boston, Creighton, MWU-AZ, MWU-IL, and USC, temple, Rutgers
Do you think I shouldn’t apply to these schools?

I know one Canadian accepted last year to UPenn, It is really hard to get into California universities, you must have GPA of 4 if you are Canadian,
Some from your list require full year of Anatomy & Histology- so apply if you have these 2 credits. If you have DAT above 21 then you can apply to NYU but I don't recommend this school: too many students, they failed 11 students last year, also extremely expensive tuition and living in NY. I know someone there, does not like it and she tried to transfer out but couldn't.
I think if you apply to 6 schools it is enough with good stats to get interview invites by at least 5 and get acceptance at 2 or 3 schools.
Here is a list of all schools from last year, see who accepts Canadians, I would choose the schools with at least 2 Canadians ( if only 1 Canadian, than got in with probably exceptional stats). Note that as a Canadian you need above their averages: GPA of 3.6 + & DAT 21+ to be confident.
Let me know if you need more info. you can send me email too.

Totally agree. It really depends on the student. I had students applying with 3.4 from Canada that got accepted. I think every student's profile is different and there's no one size fit all strategy for Canadian students.I'm so tired of bs posts like this being spread around the forum regarding international stats needed to get accepted to dental school. Where is your source a Canadian applicant needs a 3.8+? Ya maybe if they're applying Ivy League. I have several friends of mine who got accepted with gpas around 3.5. You're more than just a grade smh. At least bring up other important factors like dat, EC, PS, and letters. And if a Canadian had that gpa they wouldn't bother applying to the states in first place.
University of Minnesota is very Canadian friendly, I spoke to their admission director and he told me that every year they make about 6-7 offers to Canadian students. So it it worthwhile applying. How is University of Minnesota? I looked at the ADEA dental explorer and it mentions its preference towards in-state applicants. I am a Canadian applicant, so is this even worth an attempt?

According to my friends who are in d3/D4 nyu does not kick students out. Do you have the link for what you are referring to?Not a romour, Number of failed student was posted on ADA website (NYU =11)
I did not say kicked out but FAILED and allowed to repeat a full year ( and pay a full year tuition of ~~100K ! for repeating a year) published on ADA website in an ADA Survey of Dental Education file for 2017 year end :According to my friends who are in d3/D4 nyu does not kick students out.
