HI 🙂

Currently Registered for Sep 3 PCAT.

->Readiness level = ehhh.
->Practice test Composite = 75th Percentile

Considering Oct 6…. but I'm worried it's too late for most schools.

Take both dates? Or just take it my first time Oct 6 (higher score)? What would look better on an application?

THANK YOU 🙂)

In my opinion, you should take both dates. 75th percent tile is avg, you will definitely get some interviews with that along with a decent GPA.. You can have a sense of how the real PCAT exam is in terms of timing and etc.. If you are happy with your scores, you won't need to take the Oct 6th one. But its definitely not too late if you were to take the Oct 6th one too.. Good luck! 🙂

how can 75 "percentile" be average?^ Even though a lot of people post their 90+ scores in here, it's not that common in the real world. I know 4 people that took PCAT last July and the did really bad... not even close to 70 LOL...

People see the 90+ scores on here and get scared. A 75% means you are in the top 25% of the norm group.

75 is avg or not avg, all depending on the schools. PCAT avg at some schools might be higher, being in the 80's, or lower, being in the 50-60's, etc.

But talking about extreme, you should see posts where people got in U of Arizona with stats like 2.90's GPA and 10's percentile on the PCAT :barf::barf:

I'd have to imagine that was a case where as a non pharmcas school they had very few apps, and the student happened to be instate (possibly a U of A grad).

still unbelievable if you have to think about those #'s.... I thought those were some stupid jokes when I read the posts....

i honestly think oct date should be fine as well if the schools u r applying are not rolling admission.
make sure to take care of appication first, at least LOR in and transcript sent so u r ready to go after ur pcat. take both tests. if u can do 80+ on september one maybe just go for it. if not study harder for oct pcat and make sure to improve!

I've seen <2.7 gpa (multiple F's in coursework) ppl getting accepted to pharmacy school too so.. 2.9 is actually pretty good maybe lol. But 10 percentile PCAT? oh man..

yeah I know.... and that is actually common. I saw several posts from many here including one who claimed having a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences and doing post doc at well-known university...

But how one could even achieve such numbers that is beyond my wild imagination :thinking::thinking:

Do most schools take the highest PCAT or do they consider the oldest? My intention is to take it once, blow it out of the water, and never worry about it again. I'm running out of time so I'm trying to make a decision quick. Not to mention the upcoming semester 🙁

Thanks for the reply man. I'm just so conflicted on wether to take a approx 80 composite on sept 3 or go for 80+ by october. At the same time, I don't want two pact scores .. I'm assuming most schools look at your first attempt over your best?

Thank you 🙂 I have no clue where I'm applying haha let alone figure out what courses transfer.. How do you even find out? It seems like 1/10 schools have transfer guides on their homepage and the rest don't? and how do you know if their rolling admissions? Sorry about the all questions 😳

at this stage and you still do not know the answers to your questions above ?? one thing I am sure that those answers are not on SDN 😉 lol

but seriously, seek the answers from the sources, i.e. PharmCAS and the schools. If you apply to 10 schools, pick up your phone and call those 10 freaking schools....

You would just have to find out from each of the schools. If you score close to an 80 in September you should just apply with that one because the schools might not get the October one. Depending on what school. There is always retaking it next cycle as well

Easy tiger… I'm trying to narrow down my selection of schools is what I meant. I don't need to "apply to 10 schools" to get in :laugh: People these days...

The schools will look at the highest PCAT score. If you only want to take it once, then I would definitely go for the October one, since you will have some more time to study. Good luck! 🙂

Hey thanks for your kind response.

By October you might forget what you studied.
You will never feel that you're truly prepared, so just take the exam on September

I say take exam as early as possible so you can retake if you feel necessary and are confident enough that you will be prepared the next round
