Ok...so at what point is it still acceptable to cancel an interview? a week before its scheduled? a month? a day? an hour?

So this is all completely my own opinion, but I feel like you're perfectly fine to cancel with 2 weeks left or more. For the sake of other possible applicants, you should definately cancel with at least 6 days barring a real emergency.

I agree with the above. Cancel when you are sure you are not going to attend, and after you have really thought it out.
