First off, yes, i'm just a little pre-med, so please nobody bash me too much for entering the big-dog forum. but i will be one of you next year. anyway, i'm posting this here because you all will have gone through this, so i'll get better responses than if i post in the pre-med forums.

my question is how does one properly cancel an interview? obviously it's a waste of time/money to interview somewhere after you've been accepted somewhere you'd prefer going, but if the interview is already scheduled it must be cancelled. i'm interested in specific wording. i really don't want to offend anyone, nor burn any bridges. should i be totally honest? also, i'm assuming a phone call is the appropriate way to do this, not an email? last, what is the minimum acceptable notice as to not be a jerk? is a week enough?

thanks guys and gals.

It's only September!

But if you're 100% sure that you won't go to this school, call them ASAP. Tell them "Thanks very much for the interview offer, but I've already been accepted elsewhere, and I need to withdraw my application." They might require written confirmation, but by calling them, they can find someone to take your spot on interview day.

Congrats on the acceptance,
doepug (MS IV)
