Been doing this premed thing for 3 years now and I am fed up. Failed Orgo first semester. Got a C in my second semester. Doing orgo II now. I have lost all motivation... sadly... professor is terrible... thick accent. no help at all. I have been doing alright but first exam is coming up and i am busting my butt.
Trying to find research work as well. Any suggestions? Maybe i have been going about it the wrong way. On my campus no science professor has any space and i applied early. Anything else anyone can recommend on the NYC area? I am willing to go anywhere at this point....
Not too strong in the sciences though. Still bio and physics left. Chemistry were B's.
Any suggestions on how to get out of the orgo slump and boost up my resume with activities?

Difficult last three years as working full time and going to school full time, but could be worse.

If you blame the professor's accent you should see UCSD science classes...

Sounds like you are looking for someone to blame for your academic failures.....

first, look and see if your performance is the best intellectually you can do or can you do better if you had more time, etc.

Either way, failing a prereq and not getting As is not gonna cut it.

Just being honest....

There is no point in adding ECs when you don't have the academics nailed first. Concentrate on your studies and repair your GPA if you want a shot at med schools.

Keep in mind that DO med schools only include the most recent grade, if you retake, when they calculate your application GPA (provided the credit hours are the same or greater).

Consider retaking the OChem at a local community college if there's no other choice for professors on your current campus.

If you're "not too strong in the sciences" are you sure medicine is where you want to be? The first two years of med school are the equivalent of taking 21 semester hours for each term in the heavy sciences.
