I am a 3rd year DO student who for the life of me cannot find research anywhere. I have sent around 150 emails to many different programs and I either do not get a response or they say there are no openings or that they do not take visiting students. Any ideas on how to find or get some sort of research project under my belt before next school year. Also I am trying to find decent research in rads or surgery not case reports. Any help is appreciated

Ask some of your clinical faculty if they know of clinicians who are sitting on data that needs to be written up.

Try to find surgery/rads residents on Instagram and DM them. You can ask if they have a project or if they know a doc who could use some help with research. I’ve had decent luck talking with residents on insta in the past.

Does your school have a research dean or director of student research? reach out to them, if not I can only say cold emailing people at nearby academic centers or residecncy programs is prbly the only way.

Check out cancer centers - there are always topics related to surgery or imaging, but in reality you don't need something specific in those to be valuable to you when you apply for residency. Heme/onc and rad onc usually have good opportunities. Asking a visiting doc or someone from your faculty who may know someone helps.
