The volume contraction caused by the diarrhea will activate RAAS, leading to excretion of potassium as well as protons (which will alleviate the metabolic acidosis). Vomiting/diarrhea also results in an electrolyte loss, including potassium. You do get that transcellular shift, but your potassium would probably still decrease.
