Dear Nobel Laureate-like Applicant:
We are honored that you have considered the Division of Cardiology at Massachusetts Special Hospital in your fellowship search process. The Fellowship Selection Committee has carefully reviewed your great application. Regrettably, however, due to your very large and extremely qualified application credentials, we will be unable to extend an invitation to you for a public interview. We cannot teach extra-terrestrial beings like you. We feel underqualified.
We wish you continued success in your medical career.
Best Regards,

After much silence, got a rejection from Texas Heart. Oddly, hearing something is better than nothing, even if its a rejection. I may feel differently down to line.

Medical college of georgia is not inviting till 1st week of march.

To those who have heard from brigham and women's, when and how did you receive your notification?

Apparently, Loma Linda is sending rejections 🙁. I can also confirm that St. Vincent's/NYMC is sending interview invites.

Peace!

Got an invite from Loma Linda

👎 Northwestern...🙂(forced smile)
Has BWH sent rejections (first lot)yet? Any casualties
What about BIDMC?

If BWH has sent rejections already then the survivors may expect good news. This is what I read from the last years forum. The good news hit applicants in the 1st week of Feb.

Hopkins, UCLA all sent out mails in the 2nd week of Feb

Mayo Arizona, MGH, Northwestern, Texas heart, Duke have stuck to the previous year's(2008) pattern. they sent their letters around Jan 10-20 last year.

Issued in public interest:

If you or any member of your family has survived the initial torment from MGH, Brigham, Duke, Mayo-AZ, Texas Heart, and Northwestern, there is no reason to despair. It is possible that you have been shortlisted for an interview that would be announced in February(based on previous year's data). Now, we understand that the number itself of such blessed entities is diminutive by any stretch of imagination in this highly underrepresented population. With a word of caution we advise you lucky ones to be seated. For further questions contact our customer service department.

yups, loma/texas heart/uni of michigan hate me.. yayy 🙂

Regarding teh above quote - I think they were told they were "waitlisted" but then later rejected or interviewed. I think a rejection at this point is a bonafide rejection.

No love from - Loma Linda and U Michigan

Got a love letter from Michigan
They were sorry and said they will miss me👎

from what I understand from you Brian that there is still a chance out there if you are waitlisted. correct? But there is no way to tell that you are waitlisted, because they dont inform you always. Its a conclusion of convenience of the hopeful.

Hi everyone. You will be informed whether you are placed on a wait list. The lists are usually ranked. If something opens up the next candidate on the list will be phoned. A regret is completely different from being on the wait list.

:luck:

thank you. So at a given time there are 4 allowed states given the program has finished review and already started sending letters : 1) Rejected 2) Waitlisted 3) Invited 4) Ignored(not informed, no mails)??
I included the last one because many candidates who are not expecting a call from big-wigs have not received any mail whatsoever although they applied.

I have heard that some candidates never hear anything from some programs, but it's not the rule. We inform everyone and it seems that many programs do the same. We have regret, wait list, and invite. And we do not contact everyone at once because review is still going on. We will continue to make decisions through February.

There's also no rule about mode of contact (phone call, snail mail or email). Many programs do a lot by email because of time and number of applicants. I hear from a few candidates every year who say that they haven't heard from me, but they have and I double-check with the ERAS log. Pay close attention to your inbox and your junk mail. We're in the age of ERAS now and your service provider may mistake a mass email from ERAS as spam. That's just what I've deduced.

emory basic scientist research track 1/20

Hey PC, If I am not getting any invites yet, should I hit the panic button and start contacting programs now or shall I wait some more.
Thanks

I never would have thought in my life that I would not look forward to the weekends
