currently thinking of gen cards (nuc + echo boards) vs 1-2 extra yrs EP.
Would like to keep job options to a max and of course salary.
Seems like EP not so sought after now, saturated, with gen cards being more in demand.
Anyone else thinking of forgoing super fellowship for gen cards with current market situation or other peopel just going to train on and wahtever happens happens?

Do you like EP or not? That's the real question. It's a lot of radiation and standing to go through for a marginal (in my opinion, particularly given the money one can make in imaging) increase in income, if any. You're right that the EP market is tight, so you'd really have to like EP to do it in Bumblefack, OK.

On the other hand, it's the subspecialty in cardiology that is the least easily encroached upon by NPs etc, other than imaging. Other cardiologists can barely understand electrograms, let alone allied health professionals. At Mt Sinal they had PAs performing PCIs a while back.
