Cardiology 2009 application thread
Started by punk
Hello,
1. I was wondering when is the last date to apply for 2009 cardiology?
2. How is the application process, vis ERAS?
I am so busy with my current residency program barely have time to start preparing for the fellowship application.
Creds: PhD, 3/4 publications, abstract, conference presentation.
I am a FMG, Green card, current R-2 at community based program.
Any information will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

November 15 is the opening date for ERAS, but most programs have mid-Jan as deadline for applications. but I feel that to have everything in by December will be good idea.
Same here, very busy to even prepare it properly.

Thanks. Good to know that there is some time left. What else does one need to apply other than:
1. 3 letters of recommendation
2. Personal statements.
Thanks.

Went through this process last year, allopathic US grad, academic univ program, applied to 20 programs.
1. 3 Letter of recs (some will take 4)
2. Personal statement
3. Request for USMLE to release your scores to ERAS
4. Picture of yourself
5. Medical school transcript and dean's letter for some programs
6. Money for apps / flights / hotels
7. Coverage for interview dates
R-3; D.O. at University allopathic program; Doing a chief year
one publication/abstract; one meeting presentation; currently working on a project; High USMLE's/class rank
Will probably apply to 40 programs b/c I am OCD
My app is done except awaiting one more letter to arrive
Programs start downloading Dec 1st, let's all cross our fingers

the vast majority, maybe 80%, of interviews are sent out between middle of January and middle of March with the largest portion of these interviews occuring in the month of February. It is still way too early for those of you who have not heard anything.
I am a Med/Ped graduate and applying to both adult and peds cardiology but i am having trouble with NRMP. They wont let you register for two different matchs. Any Suggestions.
No interviews so for.

I have applied to 170 programs in adult cardiology and 30 programs in peds cardiology.

Ran into our cardiology PD, who assures me that it is still very early.... Here we accept apps until 2/1, and I was told that no interviews will be sent out till after 2/1. Also... he had not yet finished his first readthrough of all the apps.... the whole thing is frustrating nonetheless.
Based upon my contacts and friends and based upon other people's posts the following programs have sent invites
1. U Florida (Jacksonville)
2. Baylor College of Medicine
3. Texas Heart Institute
4. Texas A & M
5. UVA: has anybody heard from them?????
6. UNC: has anybody heard from them ????
