The American College of Preventive Medicine has a nice little slideshow about careers. It's located at
http://www.acpm.org/cipm.htm
One quote from their website:
"Career paths include managed care, public health, occupational medicine, aerospace medicine, clinical medicine, informatics, policy development, academic medicine, international medicine, and research, covering all levels of government, educational institutions, organized medical care programs in industry, as well as voluntary health agencies and professional health organizations"
I think most docs in preventive medicine do the either general public health and prev. med route, or occupational medicine, but there is also aerospace as well. They have some data about jobs (which I forget exactly), but most that I know work in occupational or health plan settings, or for government at state or local depts of health. Or academics, of course.
You also probably know this, but you can get an MPH during your academic year (and if you already have an MPH, I think most residencies waive that year). You still need a clinical year (intern or dual-residency), and a practical year.
