  1. Non-Student
I'm wanting to find a dental school OUTSIDE of the US to attend as I THOUGHT I might have a better chance for admittance. Upon graduation I would ONLY want to practice in the USA.
Can someone recommend any foreign dental schools that are taught in English that would be easy to get into and that the degree would be recognized in the US?
I have a BS degree in a nonscience major and am 47 years old.
Any assistance is kindly appreciated. Thanks..😕

u would want to look in to the University of the West Indies Dental school at St. Augustine, Trinidad.

First to be honest, it is easy to get into a dental school in the US, just do good on your DATs and apply all over, you will get into one. I hear of alot of people with 2.8s and good DATs get into good dental schools.

Second why are you doing the career change, please note that dental school education is alot of work, more expensive than medical school, and can be physically tasking on the back and hands. So unlike fields in medicine like physchiatry where I read there was even a blind resident, as a dentist you need extreme dexterity, and hand skills. Most dentists retire at the age you will be starting due to this.

Third, to get a US license you MUST do dental school in the US, there is no way around it except to enroll into a dental school after getting your international dental school and do a 2-3 year program that exists in NYU, and other dental schools google it, it costs you more throughout the journey, is a longer road, and makes no sense for a US citizen. I NEVER heard of a US citizen go to a foreign country to get a DDS then come back to the US to go to a DDS there to get there US license. Dental school is not like medical school where you can just pass your steps, and just transition into a residency. You have to do your clinical years in a US affliated school to get your US license.

That clears it up for me. I had NO idea that it would be a waste to go to a foreign dental school. You saved me a LOT of heartache. I really appreciate your reply. Its strange that some MD's can go to a foreign med school and then come back here yet dentist can't. Regardless, I'm glad I know now. Thanks again 🙂

I think you can go back actually, the state of Minnesota is allowing overseas trained dentists in. You could check up on that. But yeah dentistry is pretty much a shut door, and going overseas for medicine is becoming more risky as well.

I do not want to be a denstist but I am just curious how much money they usually make in their own practice.
