I've recently started the cars question pack 1, and have done the first 7 passages and I found most of these passages to be very hard. On some passages I would get 5/7 but on most it's 3-4/7 and some 2/7! While I hear the consensus that these passages are difficult. Should I expect to see these on test day or the passages from q pack 2 more in line? Thank you!

Unfortunately, it just depends on what test you get on test day. There can be around 4 passages like the Qpack 1 or none. Of course the more difficult the CARS the greater the curve. All you can do is prepare for the worse and hope for the best.

The overwhelming consensus is that it's unlikely your CARS section will anything like the first half of QPack 1. Maybe you'll get a passage or two like that, but who cares? As the poster above pointed out, if it's harder for you it's harder for everyone else and you won't have to get as many right for any given scaled score.

If it makes you feel better, on the reddit mcat forum there is a spreadsheet of people's practice scores vs actual score. Lot's people bombed the first half of CARS 1 and ended up scoring in the high 90th percentile on the real deal.

The first half of QPack 1 isn't "hard" because the passages are hard but rather because the answer choices and explanations don't entirely make logical sense. So I wouldn't worry about QPack 1 because everybody is scoring similarly on those. Focus on the latter half of that QPack and QPack 2.

I agree. The only passages that were difficult to comprehend the first 3 passages. But other than that the passages weren't immensely hard to read. The explanations though were poor, not all of them though. Some explanations I would read and think to myself "ahh I see, I missed a point" others I'd say "really?"

I did that last two passages of the first half and went 10/13, I found the last passage in particular to be quite easy. Thanks for the responses everyone it really helps out!

About half way through CARS QPack 1. Getting about 50-60 percent right. Took the first AAMC FL test and got a 127. Not sure if these are good or bad indicators.

How much of these passages are repeats from the pre-2015 AAMC exams? I have taken CBT 3-8 and part of thew new Qpacks and there are repeats. I want to know if the CARS Q packs will be just repeats all the way through.

This is good to know because I just did the first half of the cars 1 q pack and bombed it. Wondering how OP did on the real one compared to this q pack
