I have tried searching but doesnot help and sorry for posting here, Im a newbie 😀

Im in my preclinical years and its going to be our first time to present a case based presentation. The topic is Gastroesophageal reflex disease. We have the copy of the case, diagnosis, clinical examination and investigations and we are asked to talk about the physiology aspect of this case, together with pathophysiology, pharmacology and anatomy aspects.

I really dont know how to go about it. What exactly my outline should be (We are 5 in a group). Your help will be REALLY appreciated !

Thanks

Getting down the right pathology would be a good start.
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

A textbook of medicine, UptoDate, clinical pharmacology database, a pathology book, a pharm book, etc. The resources are fairly unlimited

Head to your local medical library and print out any of the Cases from the New England Journal of Medicine. Use their format as a guide to write-up and present your case presentation.

Great idea. Harrison's is a good text that will walk you through a lot of what you've been asked to present, as well.

Thanks everyone. Well yes, the pathophysiology, pharmacology and other parts are pretty clear to me. But the main idea behind this presentation is to discuss the "Physiology" behind. I dont seem to find resources on that.

I will definately try to resources you are recommending

I'm not sure how you can understand the pathophysiology but not the physiology.

lol my fault at using wrong words. I meant that I cant seem to find sources on just the physiology. There are tonnes of articles and journals etc on pathophysiology and etc.

Now I am clear. Thanks everyone

Too many physiology texts out there to list, but they will all have a section or two on the physiology of the esophagus and stomach.

Guyton and Hall "Textbook of Medical Physiology" is a good physio text if you want to get detailed. Costanza's book is great for explaining difficult physiological concepts in a way that you can get your head around it.
