This tread for gas res. and attendings: I was wandering if you can tell me the avarage case load carried by CA1's/CA2's per month or year out there? in my program the mumbers had dropped in recent years, is this accross the board in academic centers or just where I am? thanks

Don't get caught up with number of cases done, just make sure your program meets the minimum requirements in all the areas. Case complexity is more important in my opinion (2 liver transplants vs. 2 tympanostomy tubes or 2 open AAAs vs 2 knee scopes). Most residents in my program get about 300-400 cases per year according to the PD.

Thanks bougie, I agree, I don't try to get caught in numbers but I should have phrased it better, that is complex cases with ASA 3-4 pts. is CT cases are dwindeling down at ur program?

dhb, does every CA3 at Duke do CT or is it depending on the track? the CT numbers especially Thoracotomies (from the 2 lumen tube stats) appear high!

Some numbers are high and others seem a bit low i just found the page browsing through the website...
