Less than 3 weeks to go. How's everyone feeling?

Just gotta keep pushing till the very last second. NBME review all day every day.

How’d it go everyone? I literally have no idea how I did. There were questions I knew right away and others where I was like “WTF is this!?”

Anyone else’s registration status still say

“Registration Status: Exam In Progress”

Even if you submitted?

Mine says “exam administered.” Might be different for different testing centers/locations maybe?

Mine also says "Exam in progress"

There is no exam under my exams 😭
Maybe u also forgot to sign up using the link they send in the beginning to link ur exam to your account? Dw cuz i did too. Just contact support and they will fix it. Told me it can take up to 10 days

I dont know. Pretty crazy experience. My first attempt. I only did Uworld and did NOT do NBME. The concepts were similar- but not sure. Prolly will reattempt in July 2024. Did the questions from NBME self assessment repeat? I know the concepts are suppose to be the same. Who knows.

There were some repeated concepts from the practice NBME’s but also some things that were completely new.

For those that used Bootcamp and UWORLD…. Any preference? Which was best for this?

well that was fun 😅. My first time taking CBSE and what an experience that was 😂

I’m literally gaslighting myself into thinking my educated guesses were right because that was insane. I felt like I knew exactly what was going on in every scenario but then they asked the most insane thing
This is too real i cant 😭😂

I went into this feeling somewhat confident.... but this exam destroyed me.

What is EPC vs "old score"?

I believe “old score” refers to the raw score and EPC stands for “equated percent correct” - basically your curved score based on how everyone else did.

What is EPC vs "old score"?
The old score refers to the original 2-digit score that was used when they first implemented the CBSE after dental boards went pass/fail. They used to provide a conversion chart from the old 2-digit score to the 3-digit score when it switched to the same scoring used for Medical boards. Then they changed the scoring again, once step 1 of medical boards went pass/fail, to EPC.

There are charts that allow you to convert EPC to the old 2-digit score. But i wouldn’t say it’s useful now. The first year or two of EPC people didn’t know what a good score was. Didn’t know how it compared to 3-digit or old 2-digit. That doesn’t really matter now since most people have an idea of what EPC you need for interviews and matching now. PDs have adjusted to the new scoring because it’s been 2-3 cycles with it already

EPC is usually within a point of RAW score and what is currently used. old score is the curved score (usually roughly between 3-7 points higher) and depends on the conversion table

Score reports just came out guys! Best of luck

I got 75-80 EPC. I know I could do better but is it worth putting myself through hell for another 6 months? I don't know.

Hi guys,

Congratulations to everyone who got the score they were looking up, this was my first time doing the CBSE , I did Bnb , I was able to complete about 900 Qs from uworld and I reviewed a couple nbmes but I didn’t get a good score (40).

I’m looking for some advices in order to take it in July, I was thinking on:
-1 Trying bootcamp
-2 Do the entire U world questions (which I always heard was very important to go through
3- focus more knowing that at least I have already seen all the content once

Any advice is more than welcome.

My friend isn't too savvy when it comes to knowing what score is what so I am asking on their behalf. They got a 63 (59-67). Does this mean that it's a pass for Step-1 purposes, they seems to think so? Also if they want to do 6 year programs and they have a 4.0 GPA (rank 1) is this good enough or do they 100% have to retake?
That is the million dollar question isn’t it

63 EPC is the equivalent of a passing score for Step 1, although it is considered a low pass based off the NBME and medical school standards. If your intentions are to do a 6 year program, I would retake any CBSE that isnt over a 70 EPC while you are in dental school to maximize your chances of interviewing/matching. The average CBSE I saw at my program this past year for interviews was around 75 EPC just for reference.

It is still possible to match with a score below a 70 EPC for both and 4 & 6 year programs, so many more things go into an application, and it truly is looked at holistically. Having a competitive CBSE score will always land you more interviews.
