this is the deal, i have 2 semesters at a cc that ive failed and ended up with .6 gpa from 15 credit hours. im taking 12 more credit hours and 6 during summer which i plan on making all As and already have this semesters. which will bring my gpa up to a 2.0 so i can get my financial aid back and go to a university. now if i make really good grades for my 4 years at the university and come out with like a 3.6 or 3.7, how will this affect my chances of getting into a medschool? hopefully one in louisiana?

and the classes i took at the cc were remedial classes because i have my ged.

and i do have a very real explanation as to why i did so bad my first 2 semesters in cc

First of all, I'm moving this to the "What Are My Chances?" forum. Second, if you do well and bring up that GPA, you should be good, but be prepared with a very good explanation. The LSU's don't have the highest admissions standards, so that's good. If you do well on the MCAT, and you can get that GPA up in the 3.5/3.6 range, I think you stand a good chance.

P.S. Yay louisianans!!!! 😀

A lot of students have trouble their first year as they adjust to a college environment. If you have a good excuse, all to the better. Your current low GPA is completely fixable if you put in the hard work and an allopathic med school admission is very possible if you get your GPA up as high as you have suggested (and get a good MCAT score, the usual ECs, good letters of recommendation, etc).
