Hooray, critical care derm. Knew those questions were coming, but still...

Overall, rather fair exam. Clinical case questions were straightforward, SEEK and SCCM Self-Assessment and AKA will over prepare one for those. Future test takers, be prepared to not only know the correct answer, but the mechanism of the correct answer for the exam. Neph and Rheum questions were a little harder than I thought they'd be. Several topics stressed in those other question banks were nowhere to be found today, but I had about five questions on one particular electrolyte disorder. Cards and ID were easier than anticipated. Several non clinical case questions felt like they were lifted straight out of USMLE 1.

4-6 weeks for the news, then hopefully won't have to take it for another ten years.

That means it was easier than in other years. 🙂

Maybe it was easier this year, or maybe I just over prepared. I felt that the Chest, SCCM, and ATS board review question banks were much better assessments of critical care knowledge than that test, and I'm going to be surprised and angry if I hear that I have to retake it.

Agree. Those questions seem much closer to real life situations.

Yeah it was definitely more derm and OB heavy than I thought. ID, plum, and cardiac were a small minority of the exam. I guess it makes sense to test the things we don’t see as often.

I would concur with all of the above, SEEK was more than adequate, also apparently would add First Aid for all the step 1 stuff they included in the exam. Seriously though, what was up with all the derm questions? I guess they must know how hard it is to get an inpatient derm consult 😉
