Hey guys, I was interviewed at CCOM and I was kind of disappointed by the school. Despite of excellent rotation sites including Loyola (Northwestern, Rush and the rest of the Chicago MD schools are not in the list), the overall condition of the school is way below other schools I have been interviewed at. The old/grim buildings, old gross anatomy lab (no LCD screens, no technology whatsoever in the gross lab). When I got to the school, I felt that I returned back into pre-computer 70s era. Also, the internet access was SLOW dial-up speed throughout the campus, not all the buildings are wireless. Some buildings have wireless access for faculty/staff only.
The landscaping (especially the park) is pretty bad as well. The park is pretty wild and not taken care off. Cafeteria feels like my old undergrad with the exception that food did taste better. The only thing is that the staff did not seem to take care of the salad buffet area very well.
I felt that the university should spend a LOT of money to bring everything up to a descent level. The new gym building is very weird with people running in the hallways. Looks like these guys are trying to save money and cut as many corners as they can. DMU for example seemed far ahead of CCOM as far as technology and quality of the facilities went.
It seemed that the university is seriously lagging behind in terms of technology and facilities. I think if they were to update the campus, they have a potential to become the most desired program in the country.
