Did you start practicing with the allotted 60mins from Test 1? Or practiced without timing for the first few tests?

I am having trouble with timing..By the time I get to pattern folding I have about 8 minutes left and have to rush my way through that section of PAT and as a result don't do so well..Any suggestions?

I started out untimed and gradually worked my way down to 60 min. I would recommend doing the first few untimed to get your technique down. However, make sure that you really improve on your speed as you get closer to test date. On the real test, I got hung up on a few early on and ended up with less than eight min on pattern folding

how many untimed tests did you do?

I took about half untimed or with very generous time constraints. The PAT is about balancing technique, efficiency, accuracy, and time. Make sure that you do not neglect any of these as they are all important.

I did them all timed and was having a very hard time finishing at all. After I learned the line of symmetry method for hole punching, though, I found that I have plenty of time when I got to pattern folding.

I did the first 4 with 120 minutes, just so I can figure out how to get my technique. Then I slowly started to cut down the time, down to 90 min, and then with each test I'd cut off 5 min until I hit 70 min. I then went straight to an hour for the remaining tests. I re-did tests 1, 2, and 3 with the hour time limit since it had been a long time since I did them the first time and I didn't remember the hours.

You will develop techniques for each section with the more practice that you do. Just see what works best for you.
