I have recently completed my interviews and am trying to hash out where I want to end up. It is more difficult than I thought to pick my rank list. Mostly because all the programs I visited produce good pathologists, yet the style, personality and framework of the programs are variable. It is interesting how the pathology varies from place to place. The curriculum and AP/CP framework varies from place to place. Some 2 years AP initially, some 1 year AP initially, some mixed 1st year.

Anyways, If anyone is familiar with California programs or anyone in general could please comment on Cedars-Sinai and their program I would appreciate it. Thanks! 😛

Cedars-Sinai is a small program, actually one of the smallest in Southern California. It is a community environment with residents pulling alot of hours.

The faculty is average except for Cohen and Nast which are renowned for their Renal Pathology. They have led many committees on Renal Biopsy Evaluation and grading rejection. The other pathologists are solid though.

If you are going to go there, you'll spend several rotations at UCLA (i.e. Dermpath). Everything else is done at Cedars. Its a Jewish hospital, well funded, with a lot of celebrity flow. The surrounding area is Beverly Hills and West LA and is VERY pricy. There is also no major freeway access directly to the hospital and you should keep that in mind since commute is an issue in LA. You'll have to get off the 10 or 405 and make a 15-30 minute dash to the hospital.

Hope this helps!
