My friend was accepted to Loma Linda and UCSF without biochem. He is attending one of these schools this winter. I don't know his numbers, but I think they are average. Both these schools have biochem listed on the required pre-reqs. Is this common?
Certain "required pre-reqs" not required?

You should double check last year's pre reqs to make sure they didn't change for the current cycle. Most schools are pretty strict on prereqs because they have x,000 other applicants waiting for a slot. Not having the prereqs makes the adcom's job that much easier.
