CBC for acceptance? Do you have to provide fingerprints? I ordered a check shortly after submitting primary and it only needed DOB ans SSN.

Are they sending them out in batches or were they all sent out today?

I've never even received anything as minor as a traffic or parking ticket, yet I'm still nervous about the CBC. I think I'm imagining that it'll mess up somehow and report stuff I haven't done. Ah, this application process has raised my neuroticism to extreme new heights. Need sleep...

Mine came back clear. I actually had something to worry about because a few years ago I lost a wallet in a parking lot and the jerk that found it started using my driver's license when getting pulled over etc. Even got me charged with shoplifting which was fun to clear up. Thankfully I tracked him down, found his mom on facebook, and got my ID back. Still have a clean background. True story 🙂

You got your CBC this AM and it already cleared? When I submitted it, it said 3-5 days... oh wait. did you mean you had checked it out previously because of that incident? I'm really sorry btw, that sounded terrible. I'm glad it worked out in the end though!

Did y'all report EVERY one of your previous addresses? No one in my family can seem to remember our first family home address. I think the road name has actually changed since we moved. Surely no one is worried about where I was and what I was doing from ages 0-8. :scared: Paranoia, FTW!

Given the speed at which this is turned around, I doubt you need to be very comprehensive. Hell, I went through a government background check and they were pretty thorough and I only had to go back 5-7 years in turns of previous addresses.

Just list what you know. I'm guessing their check will probably turn up the address and they'll add it themselves. When I got mine back for some reason they added a few addresses which were just duplicates of ones I had already entered because they were typed slightly different (APT B vs Apartment B etc).

They need the addresses to know what counties/states you've lived in to know what databases to check.

same thing happened to me, except it was the same exact address but in all capitalized.

Thanks for the reassurances. I'll just go with what I know.

Just got this email today too. I'm starting to get a headache from all of the post-acceptance forms I have to fill out.

I have a nasty record. One time, during Halloween, I stood on a bench and got a violation for "misuse of a public monument" (only time I've been to court). I have a parking ticket and one speeding ticket. I hope I still "pass" or whatever. I've never received anything "criminal"... so I don't know exactly what they are most concerned about here.

Definitely a lot of paperwork, but hey, I've written a lot more through secondaries than through acceptances so far.

Just called Certiphi, and for any Canadian citizen going through this process, at the place where it says "Fully complete sections 1-4 on the...", they mean 1 and 4, not 1 to 4.

What forms are you all complaining about? The CBC only has a few pages. Am I missing something here? What else do you have?

Yeah wondering the same thing? Immunization and other such forms? The CBC took me all of 7 minutes. 😎

Do we need to do anything besides releasing the report? There is an option at the bottom to deliver the report, and it currently doesn't list anyone to be delivered to. Just wondering if we need to add AMCAS or if everything from this point on is automatic. Thanks

On the webpage of one of the schools I was accepted to, it says that after you receive the completed report, you have 10 days to review it before its automatically sent out to whoever requested the report in the first place (the school). I take that to mean we don't have to actively deliver the report to anyone. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, but I went ahead and sent mine in immediately after I found I was all cleared.

Who did you send it to? I just released the report in Step 2 and I'm not sure what to do with the distribute report part if anything.

Does yours list anything is this section:

Your Current Report Deliveries
Please see below for a list of your current CBC report delivery statuses.

All you need to do is go to Step 2 and click "Release Report." Bam. Your work is done. Go grab a beer.

I wonder if there's any possible way to figure out which schools requested a CBC? It'd be nice to know if any of the schools I happened to interview at and did not hear back from requested one or any of the schools that I got waitlisted at.

Your AAMC primary app notes whether or not a school participates in the CBC. However, I didn't get my request for a CBC until a few weeks after I got accepted, so I'm not sure if you would get a request before hearing from the school.

I think now that it's January, some schools run the check on waitlisted applicants?

Yeah, if I recall correctly, Certiphi's initial email indicated that one or more schools at which I've been accepted or waitlisted are requesting a CBC. So, if you're either accepted or waitlisted somewhere, you're going to receive a request.

Got this today too. Got a bit scared until I saw this thread and found this is standard procedure.

Kept on thinking "WTF have I done now? Please don't take away my acceptance!"

Got my results back today. I'm not a criminal! Not that I've ever been arrested or anything, but I was still super nervous before checking the report 😛

... but don't some schools wait til after jan to request the cbc? or later in jan?

i think i'm in that boat lol. either that or i acidentally cleared my spam folder when i shouldnt have. lol i'm sure i'll figure it out.

i got this background form check today, and was a bit miffed at filling it out, until i realized that the name of the school requesting the information was embedded in the page coding!

all you have to do is complete the application. once submitted, a final submission screen will pop up with a yellow "view disclosure" button. click on it and a new tab should open up with an html version of the entire document. simply right click (or whatever mac users do) to look at the html version of the page source, and scroll through it. the school requesting your info should be at the bottom.

hope that clears up some anxiety!

Hmmm. Strange. I did what you said. It seems that the school requested my info is one I didn't even apply to. Soooo weird.

Yeah I see U Penn. Didn't even apply to U Penn, so doubt they would request one

not to beat a dead horse, but i did want to clarify something....

so we only get ONE cbc email, no matter how many schools we get accepted or waitlisted to, right?

then once you click that you provide consent, you are consenting to all schools to see the cbc (all schools that have accepted or waitlisted you, that is)

then once you click submit, it is available to all schools.

the main reason i'm asking this, besides premed antsyness, is the providing "consent" part.... its not like you have to provide consent to each school, right? one consent is consent to all, right?

I am not sure about that..because one of my schools said that even if you have already done the CBC for another school, you will have to give consent to release it to their school too. But I am not sure if that just means you have to release it again or not...

You consent to have your report released to any school that requests it. So you should only have to release the report once, at least that's my understanding of this process.

Also glad to know that I don't have any felonies under my belt!

Were you concerned that you might have committed a felony and been tried for it and sentenced without your knowledge?:laugh:

I was a bit lol. Was being a bit neurotic without a good reason to be 😛

So I just wanted to confirm my understanding of this-I only have to 'Release Report' but I do not have to do anything with the 'distribute' option? I am assuming that releasing the report (regardless of whether I click on it or if it gets automatically released after the 10 day viewing period) sends it to the requesting school(s)? Just wanted to make sure I don't need to use the 'distribute' function at all. Thanks!

When I first received my report, it said I had two criminal misdemeanors. These were actually minor traffic violations which I was able to have removed without any problems.

I'm glad I checked before releasing the report.

Well, if there was an error in the report, I doubt it would be fixed in time to matriculate (at least not without hiring a lawyer) so in typical neurotic fashion, I am not surprised some people were worried 😀
