Chad's BIO videos

Hi there SDN!

I write the DAT in about 5 weeks and I've been studying GC, OC, and QR using Chad's videos.
BUT I haven't really been studying that much for BIO...yes not a good idea BUT reading and taking notes from Cliffs AP BIO text is sooooo boring!
I wasn't really going to use Chad's videos for BIO just cause BIO requires a lot of memorizing terms and didn't think it would be that much helpful.
BUT I watched up to lesson 3 on Molecular Biology and I'm actually learning a lot LOL
I watched and took notes on lesson 2 on cellular metabolism in one day and I feel like I learned everything I need to know on cellular metabolism 🙂
(although I took biochem last semester so maybe that helps too)

So here is my question.
Do you guys think watching his BIO videos ONLY and doing DAT destroyer after (which I'm doing for GC, OC, QR as well) is enough for 20+ on BIO?
What is he missing from the videos? (ex. I noticed he doesn't have anything on plants...)
Maybe add memorizing Alan's notes to the mix?

To be honest, only a few people can tell you if chads bio really helps. We're the test group for them. There do ne but from what I hear they aren't too special and eared more towards mcat

I am in the same boat is you. After studying all the other stuff, bio just puts me to sleep. I have anki flash cards and Barron's AP bio flash cards. I also have gobs of notes from various sources, I just have to narrow down which ones I will use.
I don't know the answer to your question though but since Chad's Bio is new I wouldn't just count on that alone.

Apparently Chad hates plant bio as much as we do. He has videos on everything but plant bio

"Went through all 400+ questions today, and I really liked them! There are definitely some tricky ones he threw in there, which is great because I feel the DAT may have questions like that. (Take that with a grain of salt bc I have yet to take my DAT haha) There are definitely some errors, where the solutions do not match the answer labeled 'correct'. Particularly in the Genetics quiz. All of the solutions/explanations are correct though as far as I can see. Look at those rather than the marked answer choice--just in case. Made tons of notecards from his questions. Some of the questions are redundant, but it really helps with remembering concepts. I scored around 70-90% correct on each quiz. Hope that helps~"

EDIT: I should probably answer your question haha. xD I would discourage you from using just Chad's and Destroyer. Maybe AP cliffs and Alan's notes as well. Or Bangity's notes to reinforce the concepts in Destroyer and Chad's quizzes.

I found the quizzes under the Quizzes tab in the DAT/PCAT section. I don't know if you have to be subscribed to him to get them--I am already subscribed. I'm assuming they are free like the bio vids... Don't quote me on that! I always study bio after a crushing failure in gchem or math to boost my confidence up to non-suicidal levels. haha

Im a subscribed gen chem user and I can access the Bio's as well. It wouldnt surprise me if he made them only for subscribed used. The videos, I watched the first 2 and wasn't too impressed. Its also 11 pm though.

THIS is just like me!
I actually enjoy studying GC, OC, QR, and PAT as well 🙂
Because of this, I choose to study BIO at the end of the day and yes this puts me to sleep...
At least, with watching Chad, I won't fall asleep LOL

anyways, so far, I think he does a good job explaining concepts (just like his other videos)
and oh yeah, these videos are free!? I thought since I subscribed before he released them, he just gave all the subscribed people for free, oh well LOL

anyways, it will take me about a week to finish with all the bio stuff and maybe that's when I'll try some sample qs and see if that'll be good enough

I would give his bio quizzes a shot. I'm not going to bother with the videos though. It's everything we have already heard. I do better by answering questions and learning from them. I can usually narrow questions down to two answers but then it comes down to me really knowing it or not. Some questions are just gimmies, but I learn best by trial and error. I haven't looked at his quizzes yet, but I'm hoping that they will help reinforce some of the topics that I'm a little hit and miss on.

I am currently doing a bio quiz and it is tough! It's showing me my weak areas so if you are short on time, I'd suggest just doing the bio quizzes that are on topics you don't understand as well. his explanations are really great

Obviously the videos are a lot shorter than GC and OC so if you rely solely on his videos on the BIO section, I don't think you will do well.

BUT if you are having problems studying bio section, its a good way to start! 🙂

I agree 100% that bio is sooooo hard to just sit and read. I have been watching his videos and than reading the same subject in cliffs. Then I go through the destroyer and find the questions that are simiular to the topic. I do well on cliffs quiz but then get killed on the destroyer, I hate the questions that have all the above, two of the above, A and B A and C. WTF

The section still isn't quite finished, he is planning on finishing it later this year. On the bright side, it's free 🙂
