SO I have the chance to "challenge" the AP english exam, which means that even though you don't take AP english you can still take the exam. Any one ever do this? I'm pretty good in english/writing essays. Worth a shot?

Study up on your lit terms (anaphora, juxaposition, syntax etc.) and practice your timed essays-buy a book like cliffs. Have you been in an honors english class? I got a 4, but I took the class. Of all the ap's I think it is worth a shot-I didn't even study for it. At one of the colleges I am considering, I won't even have to take english.

It is definitely worth a shot. According to collegeconfidential it is one of the easiest AP exams as it does not require a whole lot of knowledge, but rather a strong writing background and good verbal. But doing mediocore on verbal and acing the writing can get you a 4 easily.

good luck

Yes, it is definitely possible to do this. Last year I dropped my AP English class after less than a quarter of it, so I didn't really get anything out of the class. I still took the AP test in May though and got a 5 on it. If you are a good writer/reader you probably don't even need to study for it at all. The only thing I did to study was look over some lit terms in a review book. Good luck.
