Hi,

I have a 3.2 GPA and a 3.7 Science GPA. I have not yet taken the MCAT's. This was at a small, public liberal arts school in NJ. Extracurriculars aren't too exciting, but I did volunteer at a mental institution. Do you think I have a chance at getting into an allopathic med school, and what range of MCAT score would I need? I'm just looking for opinion here, thanks.

Hmm... So you have about a 2.7 in humanities and social science classes? The good news is that med schools care a lot more about science grades than non-science grades, but a 3.2 cumulative is still rather low. Are you a URM? If not, you'll probably want to look at what department in your school has really easy or easily graded classes that you have some interest in, and take a few of those next year for padding. Communications, Political Science, Psychology, etc.? If you have some friends who are varsity athletes, they can often point you to easy classes.

In terms of MCAT, a 3.7 science gpa is good, so you don't need to make up for it, but simply corroborate it. So, basically anything in the 30+ neighborhood is fine.
