Hey guys first post here. I just graduated and will be applying to dental school in the fall, so I want to get an early start on planning. I'm trying to find out what my chances for admission are, and what kind of DAT score I will need to get in somewhere (haven't really started studying for it yet). Unfortunately, my GPA is a little on the low side...a 2.85 🙂o), so I figure I will really need to kill the DAT to get in. I've done shadowing with a family friend who is a dentist btw.

26+ academic average would get you a few interviews with that kind of GPA. Anything lower than that, you're taking chances. My 2cents...

Applying to dental school in the Fall? The AADSAS application process opens in June and applying as early as possible is highly reccomended, especially with lower end stats.

I am not saying this to sound harsh but scratch dental school off of your list for this year and focus on raising that GPA to at least a 3.0 and make sure that you nail the DAT. You need to do some research on what schools are looking for in applicants and take a year or so to get yourself in the game if dentistry is really what you want. I would consider either a masters degree or some post bacc to get that GPA up. Maybe evern hold off on the DAT until your feel that your grades in relevant science courses are strong enough to study and do well on it.

Best of luck.
