Hi all -
I am currently applying for MPH/MS in epidemiology with these stats and am deciding if retaking the GRE is worthwhile.
- graduated with BS Biology, 3.1 GPA (probably bumped up to 3.2 when SOPHAS get done calculating it)
- GRE: V- 152 (52 percentile), Q - 154 ( 57 percentile), W- 4.5
- applying to : OSU, Saint Louis, Pittsburg, Texas - Houston, University of Southern California, CUNY, North Texas, Cincinnati, Iowa (and am considering 4 more schools for a total of 13).
- USC, ****, Texas would probably be my dream schools.
- LOR: 2 professionals and 2 academics. The academics are probably average and the professional ones are probably better than average.
Experience:
- 3 years hospital volunteering (specifically in MICU unit)
- 1 year in a community free clinic
- 2 years as a pharmacy technician (which actually inspired me to go into epidemiology)
- co-leader in an alternative break week working with HIV/AIDs patients.
- a month as a medical assistant/scribe
I was never a motivated student during undergrad because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do but by working in a pharmacy, I decided I wanted to go into pharmacoepidemiology research, specifically in psychiatric treatment and drug optimization.
Should I retake the GRE again in hopes of getting better scores for admissions? I've been out of school for almost 2 years now and getting the academic letters was kind of difficult already. Regardless, if I don't take my GRE again, I can technically submit all my applications right now (which is good for rolling admission schools?) Plus, the GRE is a rip off and I would prefer not to give them my money.
Thanks for reading this absurdly long message.
