Hi everyone. I have read many threads where people asked about their chances to get into the top 4 schools, but didn't find any of them close to my own situation. I took the old MCAT and just got my results, well not what I was hoping at all, and lower than my practice tests.
overall score: 19 V:4 PS:7 BS:8
cGPA: 3.1 sGPA: 2.8
2 years of voluntary bench research experience in microbiology. 2 years of working in biochemistry lab (lab tech) and 2 years of volunteering in an emergency room.
I immigrated to the US about 5 years ago and verbal section has been my nightmare.

Please answer this. I don't know if I should study for the new MCAT and take it or do I have a chance with the above grades?

Thank you in advance

how old are you?

If you're under 30, study harder and do better on the new MCAT.

Re-take classes you did poorly in and get A's.

Apply DO.

Become a physician.

Exhaust all of your options stateside before even thinking about the Caribbean.

Good luck

In the future, read articles from The Economist daily (2-3) with a focus on the Main Point of the article. These articles best emulated the verbal passages on the MCAT and boosted my Verbal score from a 6 to 10+ consistently. Best of luck

Where did you emigrate from? If it's from Latin America, you should try applying to Puerto Rican schools as well. Your stats are low for San Juan Bautista, but not impossibly so. Either way, you should probably re-take the MCAT.

You have a lot of work to do. Retake all classes you got a c or below in to boost your Aacomas GPA. Also you need to retake that MCAT. That 4 in verbal will prevent you from getting in anywhere. Never go Carib unless you enjoy being in debt with no job. Also start looking at alternatives to medicine.

Good luck.
