I just finished my DAT and here are my scores:

RC - 21
QR - 21
Bio - 21
Gen Chem - 21
O Chem - 18
PAT - 20
TS -20
AA - 20 (94th Percentile)

My cGPA is 3.5 and sGPA is 3.6. I am a from Hawaii and graduated from UNLV 3 years ago. I was a medical school student but withdrew and decided dentistry is a better profession. Currently, I have 30 or so hours shadowing a General Dentist; I hope to gain over 100 hrs before the summer ends. What do you guys think?

Looks good. Is there a reason why you're set on UNLV?

That all looks good. Your percentile won't be reported, which is unfortunate, b/c it looks like you had a harder version of the DAT (94 percentile is usually in the 21-22 AA range). However, a 20/20/20 with consistent sub-test scores and a 3.5/3.6 is very competitive if you have solid letters, apply early, and have good EC's and shadowing hours.

You're probably not competitive enough for admission to very selective OOS schools (UCSF, UF, UNC, etc) or Ivies (Columbia, Penn, etc), but if you apply early, there's no reason you won't be accepted to several great schools.

Great job and good luck!

my reasons for choosing unlv as my first choice is numerous. one of the key reasons is that i have many family and friends who live there.

I would talk to the pre-med/dent advisor we have about your case. He also writes recommendation letters and the best person to talk to first

I'd say you are in. The in state acceptance % is super high. I don't remember the exact numbers but I think it was around 80 applied and 40ish accepted. I was accepted this last cycle and had pretty similar DAT scores with the exception of 17QR 25OC 24RC. My GPA was lower too being around a 3.35. I was also an out of state applicant. I had and early interview and dec 1 acceptance. Look at those tuition numbers though, it is ridiculously high. I'd think you could get into some cheaper schools.
