What are my chances of getting into DO school?
Major: BS Biology (with a minor in Math.... 1 class away from a BA in math but some personal issues came up and I wasn't able to complete it)
Science/ Overall GPA= 3.6 (Graduated Cum Laude)
MCAT= 500
EC: >1000 Hrs working in a clinic as a chaperone and now as an Medical assistant- Registered. I also do data analysis for the clinic ( I work for for an OB/GYN that does infertility treatment so the data is on pregnancy rates for IVF) and I have been scribing his notes for him as well.

Shadowing: I shadowed a Pediatrician for like a week.... :/ I haven't shadowed any DOs

>1700 Volunteer work through Americorps with the Washington reading corps teaching kindergarteners literacy at a title 1 school (High poverty population community)

I worked through my undergrad years as a math instructor and also taught kids engineering concepts through the use of legos.

Student government: Senator of Clubs

Undergraduate research: 3 years. Published second author. Presented a poster at the Murdock conference. (research in ecology... if that matters... we didn't have many research labs at my school and non pertaining to medicine)

Co-Founded my school's Pre-Health club as well as the President the first year and VP the second year.

VP and secretary of the Math club

Undergraduate research award from my school

Deans list multiple times
Beta Beta Beta biological honors society
Society of fellows (a type of honors society at my school)

If I have any chance of getting into DO school which school's should apply to?

Any DO school. Maybe some of the higher MCAT schools like Touro would be tough, but honestly you can get into almost all of the DO schools.

What happened with the MCAT? Do you think you can retake the MCAT and score higher? You probably still have good chances with a 500 to get into most DO schools, but with a stronger MCAT, I would be surprised if you didn't get into an MD school. Don't sell yourself short if you think you can score higher on the MCAT.

Thank you for responding. I have been kicking myself down about my stats and have been worried about my chances of getting into any school at all. I never test well because I have severe testing anxiety:/

Chances fine with a broad application. Skip the coastal Touros, AZCOM and CCOM. I can't recommend Nova or LUCOM. MSUCOM? Look up Larry Nassar and you decide.

I think your overall chances are pretty good. Apply broadly, as others have stated avoid DO schools that reportedly look for higher MCATs. I would also avoid the public DO schools (Michigan state, oklahoma state) unless you're a state resident since it's very tough to get in OOS there. Just apply broadly both regionally and to established/more recently founded programs. Good luck OP.
