Chances of matching as a DO?

Hey guys I'm just looking to see what options are open before I start medical school this coming fall. The state DO I'm going to be going to has rotation sites at a hospital system that has optho residency spots. Would the best advice be to try to impress them? Do you guys think the field will be more accessible to DOs in 5 years?

There seems to be more DO residents coming from allopathic programs every year and I think this trend will continue. There are also DO ophthalmology residencies. I have had some practices be resistant to residents from those programs but it is not common, also doing a fellowship seems to remedy that entirely.

gotta be a rockstar. No step 1 makes it harder. so basic advice of networking, be a cool good looking person, research, strong letters is everything.
