It looks like they only take about 11 out of state applicants. Does anyone know how many out of states they interview? Any help would be appreciated!

yeah i am applying West Virginia Dental School. I am still waiting. nooo news.... Does anyone know how many out of stater they interview and accept? thanks👍 👍

if you go to predents.com they tell you how many they take and how many seats they have

Here are the stats of the WVUSOD class of 2010 (more current than that found on predents.com):
there were 1236 applicants, 75 were resident, 1161 non resident
31 residents were accepted into a class of 50, of the 19 non
residents 7 of the non residents were very closely connected to the state or WVU
average GPA is 3.54, SGPA is
> > 3.39. the average DAT Academic is 18, the average Perceptual is
> 17
> > and the average Total Science is 17. there are 31 residents in
> the
> > 2006 entering class.
the committee selects the
candidates they feel would best fit the program and they do not plan to
interview a certain number of people-last year (2006 entering class) they did interview 145
applicants for a class of 50
the committee does interview residents and non residents with state
ties, but if they are not ready or if they are not qualified they are
not offered acceptance to the class.

markar85. I got a q. 😕 you said that you are stong ties to WVU. How? I went to the school called Washington & Jefferson college which is in Washington, PA, which is about 1/2 hour away from WVU. A lot of students from my school have went to WVU for medical or dental school.🙄 Do you think that i am stongly ties to WVU.

I would love to go to WVU, I sent my secondary back about 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything since. When can I expect to hear back if I am granted an interview or rejected? thanks

When I considered going there, they sent me information that said they had interviewed 600 out-of-staters (both with ties and not ties to WV) and accepted 6 people, 1 person took the spot.
Close ties to WV means having gone to school in WV, living there at some point in time, or doing extensive work in WV (like if you livd in the PA line and then worked in WV). Even then it's hard to get in.
They're pretty night on taking out of staters. Unless you have a ridiculously high GPA and DAt, then I'd apply. (One guy in my class got accepted there and his GPA was a 4.0 and DAT was really high).
