Undergrad GPA: 3.012
PharmD GPA: 3.337
(Both from a top tier school)
Haven't taken MCAT yet, but curious as to how it would look for a PharmD (currently in specialty residency) to apply to MD programs. I was very active as a graduate student, including serving as director for a free clinic, but would love to hear opinions.

Low. How did you manage to get into a top tier pharmD school with a 3.012 undergrad GPA? Is pharm school really that uncompetitive?

Impossible to say without your MCAT - which would have to be great. Certainly apply to your alma mater and your state school. Don't hesitate to meet with the dean of admissions there. The deans I've met with look favorably upon Pharm.D.'s, particularly those who have completed residencies. They see the rigorous pharmacy course load, vast clinical experience, and expansive knowledge of pharmacology/therapeutics as excellent preparation for medicine. Just be prepared to talk about the change in an interview (it will come up) and of course of detail compelling reasons for the switch in your personal statement. It would help to get a LOR from an MD you routinely round with as well, one who can comment on your clinical acumen.

Pharm school is really hard, just like medical school, why can't you show any respect? I feel like a medical school will deff look at the rigor of the Pharm D curriculum when making the decision (and it is unbelievably rigorous) . You don't have to be rude when sharing your opinion. If you have a 4.0, it doesn't make you a better person than anyone else, and it especially doesn't give you the right to degrade someones degree and hard work. There's a difference between being honest and being cruel. You should learn that.

What MedPR is trying to say is, while a 3.0 uGPA apparently gets you into a "top" pharm school, it will leave you struggling to get into any MD school.

Jimmies rustled?

I didn't say anything about the difficulty of pharm school.. I simply asked how you got into a top tier pharm school with such a low ug gpa then asked if pharm school admissions was uncompetitive.

PS I have a lower ug gpa than you.
