  • Hospital volunteering: 500 hours working patient floors and in ER over 3 years

  • Shadowing: only have around 50 hours

  • Animal shelter volunteering: over 2 years here. Drive animals around and help take care of them. Around 3 hours a week.I started a school club that host fundraisers for this shelter. Have raised around $500 so far.
  • A year and a half of paid tutoring experience. Around 10 hours a week.
  • 2 years of working at a soup kitchen. 3-6 hours a week. Also prepare sandwhichs independently and distribute them in an area where homeless congregate around once a week.
  • Research- Have around 2.5 years at a lab that works with imaging. Received a $1000 fellowship, have co-authored a paper, and have one on campus poster presentation. Summer REU at rice.
  • Have a few scholarship awards
  • Have 1 year of habitat for humanity experience
  • 1 semester of big brother big sister work. Will continue.
  • Maymester in europe
  • Lift weights as a hobby

Congrats on the academic success! Really though, with stats like that, what do you think? You are clearly a competitive candidate for MD programs.

Chances at top schools?
I think your chances should be good, assuming PS with the proper tone, early application submission, strong LORs, no legal/IA issues, and excellent interview skills.

What specialties did you shadow? Have you worked since graduation?
 
May i ask what engineering degree did you pursue?
