Hi!
Can you tell me what are my chances to get into TUSPM? This is the only school that I can apply, because it is local, and I cannot move to other state.
My overall GPA 3.4
science GPA 3.1
MCAT 22
Volunteering- Home Health Care ~300 hours
Community After School --teaching ~ 250 hours

How do you think, will I get into TUSPM for 09-10?

It is a bit of a disadvantage that you are unable to apply to any of the other 8 schools due to inability to relocate...but let's look at your chances at TUSPM. Your GPAs and MCAT seem fine for Temple! The significant amount of volunteering is good too! However, your chances will be SIGNIFICANTLY hindered if you haven't shadowed a podiatrist (and hopefully have an LOR from one too!). Good luck!

you'll get in, i'm in the same boat as you. I can't really move out of state either....i got in......my stats are very close to yours

roninishya, phillypd, thanks for your answers. I will call local podiatrists to schedule shadowing. How many hours of shadowing is enough?

i dont think it really matters how many hours. you don't list it anywhere on the app, and you can make something up if they ask. it needs to be enough obviously for the pod to be willing to write you a good letter, and also for you to get a complete picture of what you are attempting to get yourself into, as well as giving you ammo/situations to talk about in the interview. this could mean 10, 20 or more. depends on the situation. I only followed about 10, but I was family friends with the pod i followed and had talked to him about everything on numerous occasions before.

Besides all the great points and advices mentioned above, wouldn't it be just as important how early you submit your application and supplementals in? I don't know, so I'm just asking...but I always think that it's also a matter of timing and sometimes a bit of luck for admissions to look over your application.

I know for some other schools, not just pod schools, sometimes the application is overlooked despite all the great GPA/exam/shadowing/LOR's, because of the numerous applications a school gets, and if you applied earlier for the next cycle than the chances of your application from getting all mixed up and lost in disorganized piles are slimmer...just a thought. 😛

Good luck.

Sorry I know there are a lot of people asking this question, but I was wondering the same thing about my odds of getting into Temple (my interview is end of March).

Overall GPA: 3.1
Science GPA: 2.95
MCAT: Ill find out march 1, but i was consistently getting 25-26 on practice tests

Ive been shadowing a Pod (temple alum) since freshman year of college. He wrote me a letter of recc.

Also, I have two interviews so far without my mcat scores submitted. Do most schools wait until they have received all of the supplemental materials to review your application?

Congrats on the interview invites. I don't know too much about Temple's admissions requirements, but the fact that you were invited for an interview before your MCAT scores, must mean that you have some other great qualities, good LOR (especially from Temple alum) or grades that they approved of, OR there are things that they want to clarify with you in person 😕. I'm sure they liked something about the application so far, just do well on your MCAT (don't slack off now) and don't screw up on the interview, and you should be fine. They won't take back their interview offer... but they'll have your score by the time you interview, right? Best of luck~ 👍

Same here! I had similar GPA stats and such and I got in.. just make sure you have good podiatrist rec letters and you'll be ok I think!

OK. Thanks. I already scheduled for upcoming Monday podiatrist shadowing. She is Temple alumni. I hope she will give me a good LOR. What actually are my time constraints? Am I late for 09-10? Or I am playing on the edge?
