Please post your honest opinion only. Currently enrolled with UTHSCSA B.S. Dental Laboratory Science program. I have applied to 20 OOS schools and yet to hear from one. Should I do Post Bacc??? Thanks in advance.

What is your total breakdown for your DAT. Saying you have a 20 doesnt really help.
The schools that you applied to, did you make sure they are OOS friendly?
Did you have good EC's?
Is this your first time applying?

Yes, please post your DAT breakdown. If your verbal reasoning or PATs are low, then that could explain why you haven't heard anything. Also, when did you apply? Did you apply last minute?

This is what he said from another Post:

DAT Score Breakdown:
Overall GPA: 3.20 20 (Academic Average)
Undergrad GPA: 3.20 19 (Total Science)
Undergrad Science GPA: 3.17 19 (Biology)
20 (General Chemistry)
20 (Organic Chemistry)
18 (Reading Comprehension)
21 (Quantitative Reasoning)
24 (Perceptual Ability)
I have more than 2 years of shadowing, 200+ hours of volunteering, have held elected positions etc.
Honest opinion please... Thanks

Everything looks decent, so I'm thinking its the problem of applying late in the cycle. There *might* be a problem with the personal statement, but likely not considering how dedicated this applicant is. Kid, maybe you should call a few of your schools to ask what happened to your application.

Also where did you graduate from? Were your core courses taken from a CC or a college close in comparison to a CC?
How late did you apply?

So you are saying a 3.2 gpa with a DAT score of 20 is fine? i thought most Dental schools accept people who have 3.4+ gpa. I am asking because i have a 3.4 and a 20 DAT , and i keep thinking my scores are not good enough. 🙁 I am from Canada

I bolded/underlined/italicized your problem.

😀 why is that a problem? private schools dont care where you are from, do they?

Note that there is a what are my chances thread up top, stickied.

You only have to look at the first post.

You can see how hard it is for anyone outside the US to get into US dental schools.

Ive seen people saying that they have 3.6+ who are struggling to get into dental schools (international students ofc)

Edit:
Also if you took the Canadian DAT, some schools wont even look at that.

I'm aware of a 2 foreign nationals that made it, but they both said it took a lot of applications.

I am a Texan and graduated from Texas A&M c/0 2008. This is my second time applying.

Interviewed: UTHSCSA (September 2010) (in-state)/No news yet...keeping my fingers crossed. wish me luck!!!
No OOS interview(s) yet so I guess it is too late.

Future Plan: M.S. Degree program in Biomedical Sciences (One Year Track). I just got accepted to Barry University.

This is just to let you guys know where I stand at present and what my future plan to make my application stronger for next cycle.

Thanks to all of you.
