Year: OMS-3 low tier DO school
COMLEX: 571
STEP 1: 231
Pre-clinicals: all passed with B
Extra activities: tons of volunteering and 2 leadership positions
Research: None
Clinicals: failed IM rotation but passed the shelf. Reason being is that i spent too much time on my phone studying instead of paying attention to the patients. Also, my PE and HP skills were weak (i am ready to explain this to the PDs since it was my first rotation of the year and had no idea how to manage btw office and studying). Other rotations are just pass

Even with the clinical failure? My preceptor has left some bad comments on my evaluation
Probably wont matter. Its lower importance and those sort of things do not show in residencies statistics anyways.

I’m not sure what they said exactly in comments, but seems subjective. I would just be ready to explain during interviews what happened and how you grew from it. You have awesome board scores and you passed shelf. Great chance of matching I would think.

Some more competitive programs might not like that failure, but, as others have said, it was your first rotation and if you’ve had an exemplary record since then, and you own what happened, I imagine you’ll be okay
