Alright, everyone in this website either lies on their MCAT scores, or every genius in the world comes to this website. I am a average person with a 20 MCAT and a 3.82 GPA. HIspanic and born in a foreign country. I've heard I have a chance to get into a DO school, what does everyone think?

There is a large discrepency in your MCAT and GPA. Why is that? While I would agree that you *might* have a chance, I think it would probably be a better idea to just go ahead and retake the MCAT in April.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, sorry.

Adrian

You may get in but I would retake the MCAT and not chance it b/c it doesn't "match" your GPA and they may question why you have a high gpa and a low MCAT. I've seen posts like this before and that's the advice I've seen.

I like am also confused and my MCAT score...I studied a lot for it and I don't know what happened. It is not that my GPA is because I don't have a science background, I am a Pre-Med Major. BUt I don't understand either, I just don't want to take that stupid test again. Thanks for the replies

If you don't want to re-take the MCAT, you should apply. However, if the outcome doesn't look good, you will know what you have to improve for next cycle.

Many people redo the MCAT... 8 of the 10 people I know re-wrote.

i think you have a okay shot at getting in. Apply to aleast 10 schools. The mean for the last 3 years of DO schools for GPA and MCAT was 24 Mcat and 3.4 overall GPA and 3.3 for Sci GPA. What is your science GPA? how did you do with Pre-req? I am doing a paper on Standized testing and the correlation between MCAT scores and succesfull GPA in Medical school is really low!! (i also hate the MCAT i Got a 20 as well so let that be know).
Don't let stuipd test tell you that you are good enough for medical school.

Actually for 2002 it is Sci 3.36 and MCAT is Bio 8.50 Phy 7.97 and Ver 8.06 so Rounding it is Bio 8 Phy 8 and Ver 8 8x3=24
you can check it out if you want http://www.aacom.org/data/annualreport/annualreport2003.pdf
look on page 28

too to the AACOMAS application pool please since 1999-2003 please see http://www.aacom.org/data/advisorupdate/AACOMAS Update_files/frame.htm

My mistake 😳 To the OP, either way, I would be retaking that test next spring if I were you. If you have a money tree, go ahead and try applying, if not, I would wait until you retake that test. be patient, I am sure you can do it, with a gpa that high you are certainly a smart person.

thank you everyone for all the advice... I will keep everyone posted..
