Hmm I haven't encountered that specifically. I think that you could change it a few times but I wouldn't go crazy

It can take a little while for the request to be processed since the forums have to be shut down when it happens. I guess what I'm trying to say is that even as a donor, you wouldn't be able to change your screenname by yourself. Only a handful of people can change it for you. You have to submit the request each time

Thanks for the clarification, sector9. I looked in the link, and the reason why I thought a legitimate reason was necessary is:

Name change is unfortunately a complicated process which requires volunteer staff editing and temporarily disables our servers during the process.

So I thought it was necessary to mention in the help desk.
