i don't understand the drew process... you would think after JUNE 15th they would give word to us... but unfortunately no....

i have actually given up on ever hearing from them...

don't worry flop and others a friend of mine said that people drop until school starts... i've unfortunately heard the same rumors from norma... that files are in Dr. Parker's office and i don' tknow but honestly did our files get neglected???

Very frustrating. They can at least give us notification that we are on a waitlist. I am just planning on going to Chicago. In the unlikely event that they call, I am sure it will be like the day I am driving across the country.

I sent in a few updates actually. I am really happy about Loyola actually - I have a great new apartment and Chicago is a blast. I just wanted a little closure with Drew. Are you going to UCLA proper?

ya i'm set on going to the ucla program... too bad drew hasn't called me yet but the paperwork, moving, etc... is a pain... (i'm not from cali) BUT on the bright side we are still going be doctors !

Indeed! But wait, if you get called this late in the game, you will have to switch your moving plans from LA to LA?? that doesn't seem like much of a pain...

hi flop not exactly... i spend my first two years at the ucr campus... so i'm actually moving to the inland empire... i guess for me instead of moving twice (once to ucr and then moving to ucla for rotations) i would have liked it to be only in the LA area... but ya... sorry for the confusion 😕

Every week, i say to myself ''This is the week i would hear from Drew" and the week goes by. I am thankful i have another school to go to. I just found a roommate and send in my security deposit.

I sent my security deposit off too. The thing that really irks me is the fact that we are not even waitlisted technically. We are STILL in limbo. Uhm - if the class is full, acknoweldge it formally and waitlist us. If the class is NOT full (?) fill it already, and then waitlist a REASONABLE number of us and reject the rest. It seems silly to me to have 20+ people in limbo for a class of 24 that is full.

Hi everyone... I'll be part of the 2010 Drew class and I've been looking into this thread every now and then. And I'm just curious- how many of you would actually drop your other acceptance(s) to go to Drew? Have you not withdrawn your application by now because you REALLY do want to go to Drew, or it's one of those "I just want to see if I would have gotten in" (which I totally understand as well)? I have a good friend of mine who's also "in limbo" at Drew and she may just end up in southern Illinois if she doesn't get in here. Good luck to you all 🙂

I would drop my acceptance and go to Drew. As frustrating as it would be at this point to do - Drew is really where I want to be. im an applicant to ucla class of 2010 and just read this thread. I interviewed in march and still have not recieved any notification of where i stand. I flew from abroad to attend the interview. Then, UCLA lacks the decency of notifying me about my candidacy in a timely manner (if they even do at all). It's really frustrating. I am planning on attending another school at this point, but still have to hold out mentally for ucla because they have given me no indication otherwise. It's pretty taxing. Just thought id vent a little. Best of luck to all of you. Happy 4th.

I guess I'm a chicken but I thought it was best... in all honesty I was holding out for Drew... I am originally from the IE and was LONGING to come back to california... either way I'm blessed/lucky/thankful for having a spot... Like Flop here the wait was really unbearable... I mean if you read this forum all the way from the beginning we were/are NEUROTIC... oh it's this week, they said in 2 weeks, and in all honesty I felt (I hope I'm not alone) rather played with... AND after waiting for almost HALF A YEAR (5 months really) I felt that I should end it and IT was weird I felt really good it was like HA I am no longer waiting for you type of relationship...

Eh... I know that in the long run I will eventually be doing underserved medicine and either way I'm in a great program...

I still love Drew but if I had one complaint it's the 5month no word status wait that really did me in Oh ya and also the pseudo-rejection over the phone ( 🙄 ) AND to top it off the countless missed dates I've heard from admissions.... I do understand that it's hard to keep track of students and updates but at least out of courtesy write us a letter telling us exactly where we are... I mean there are a lot of us on this forum that are still waiting for status'...

Good for you!!! You feel good about it so it's all good. Having another acceptance is definitely great, because you're an MD in 4yrs either way. You have an awesome outlook... that's exactly what i was thinking if I wouldnt have gotten into Drew... no matter what, i will be serving the underserved. Where are you moving back to Cali from? I didnt read this thread from the beginning but I'm sure the wait has been awful. I'd like to know whats up too... Ima look into being part of Drew's admissions next year and see what really goes down. I think their process is complex due to having to be approved by TWO admissions committees and the limited 24 spots makes it even harder as it is. I also don't understand why they havent put you guys on a waitlist... doesnt make sense. Regardless, you're in and the hideous experience that is the application process to medical school was all worth it 🙂

I called yesterday. they start school on 7/23/06. Therefore, we need to hear something before then or it is over. If you do the math that is only 12 days. So the wait is coming to an end, i guess!

I am going to keep calling even after the 23rd. Those bugger-heads had me fly all the way down - the LEAST they can do is mail me a nice letter that says "No." Geesh - how rude of them! I just hope on behalf of the people that were accepted that the rest of the school is better organized than the admissions department. What a mess.

We start PRIME on July 23rd... its a summer program similar to UCLA's Prologue. It ends on July 29th with Drew's White Coat ceremony. Right after that is Prologue, followed by UCLA Orientation. DREW starts classes along with UCLA on August 14th. I haven't been able to find much out about why some peeps are waitlisted and others are just hanging out there with no news. Sorry about that guys... I agree there should be some more organization. What exactly are you told when you call? Why aren't you guys waitlisted and whats the difference??? Hope it all works out for the best... Good Luck!

Each time i called i was told my application had been reviewed but a decision hasn't been made. I am not sure when this desicion would be made. It is interesting because i am flying to Michigan on the 22 of july. Well i haven't called them for the last two weeks now. I think i should this week.

Maybe the accepted Drew students havent all confirmed? or have other places on waitlists or what not. you never know... there could still be some potential good news.

The way it appears to me is that the class is full but some people who have accepted remain on some waitlists. So they are hanging on to "less than a dozen" applicants just in case some people who are already accepted get in off of a waitlist elsewhere and decide to withdraw from Drew. So essentially we are on a waitlist although for some reason they have trouble offically designating it as such.

why everyone who is still being considered have not been waitlisted yet makes no sense to me... you guys should hear SOMETHING! i do know that Drew knows what students (accepted at Drew or not) are still waitlisted, and where, so it's something they keep in mind thru this whole process. know what i mean? there still may be movement... up until the 1st day of class. ive heard the crazy stories.

WOW! 😱 I am surprised someone got off the list this late.
Do you think we will get a letter after Monday to tell us that we were not admitted? I hope we get something.
