Ok try to count all the times you check your email, a day, looking for an interview invite. Everytime you refresh the page counts!
me today => my finger tip is actually sore from hitting "Inbox" 🙂

Ha- I hear you. I have definitely been aware of my bizarre behavior throughout this whole application process. I call it bizarre because I also check my email; well let's just say a WHOLE lot. I also look through these boards more than I probably should... 🙂 But it is good to hear that other people are going through the same thing. I guess we just know that this is an extremely important decision for us 🙂

I can't access yahoo email at work, so fortunately I can't check it 20 times a day...so my anxiety is more controllablle. I get home after hours too so I no it can't cahnge after I check it once...but the forms I check a lot 🙂

I was checking my email compulsively waiting to hear about my OSU interview. Of course on the day they emailed me our university email was down for the day and I was anxious all day. It was very rewarding when I finally got to check it and there was something worth checking! Now its just waiting for me until OSU sends out acceptances/rejections and Penn does interviews ...

Well you can probably relax about Penn. Unless you are in the very first group of 30 to interview, you most likely wont here anything until January, and it will be in your mailbow not in your inbox 🙂

Good luck! I dont envy you all, even though vet school finals really really suck!

Hi Deanna, do you know if invites have been sent already for the first 30 people invited? or are you talking from past experience?

I don't know about this year. If I were to guess, I would have to say they have not been sent out. Last year the first round of people went on Jan 13th or so (whatever that Friday was) and they heard right around Christmas. I interviewed on February 9th and found out about my interview around the middle of January. Dont panic if you don't hear anything for awhile, though. One of my roommates wasnt invited to interview until mid-March. Penn interviews 30 people every Friday, skipping the 2 Fridays during our spring break, from January to March.

Oh, and contrary to belief, they did not interview instate first and then out of state, every one I talked to had a mix of instate and out of state people at their interview. And large animal people interview seperately than small animal people since they host those interviews out at the NBC, so that could also affect your interview date based on what you checked off on the little card as your primary area of interest.

Good luck!

Definately taken to stalking the postman and COMPULSIVE email checking... Waiting + final undergrad finals ever (I'm a non-trad so this is year 7 of undergrad for me) = eeks!

I have a little pop-up thing that tells me when I get an email. Does that count as continuous?

I even check my email 10x10^10 times on the weekends when I'm pretty sure that most admissions offices may be closed.

I get mad everytime I get "0 New messages" +pissed+

hehe, same here...the status page for cornell never changes on weekdays...dunno why i hope it will on the weekend!

I check my email once every few hours when I'm home, and all day at work I'm yearning to check my inbox!

I blame it on Mississippi State, they are *amazing* at keeping up-to-date with emails, whereas my other schools (NCSU, Kstate, Illinois) have been terrible thus far.

Has anyone's Illinois status page changed????

By the by, this is my first official pre-vet post! I'm 2.5 years out of school, and have been trying to do the vet school thing for about 1.5 years (applied last year--unsuccessfully.) Nice to meet everyone! 😳

If you haven't seen a "Interview Not Offered" status then you're in better shape than I! They made a cut of applicants based on GPA, so if you haven't been kicked yet, I'd wager that's a good thing!

I have a hard time believing I'll make their GPA cuts. My 'interview confirmation status' still says "pending application review." Maybe they haven't looked at mine yet =/ Thanks for the info though! =)

I know this goes against the mood of the board, but could you give a general idea of the range of your GPA which got cut, Cookiebear? Not the exact number, if you don't feel comfortable with that. I'm just getting ballpark ideas of what the CUTOFF is, which might be different from what the average is... or so i'm wondering. I'm sorry if this feels like prying :-( I just want to get a sense of how bad it looks for me... I should have a GPA of about a 3.6, sci GPA about 3.3 or 3.4, and i'm hoping that'll be OK. but i'm not confident.

Hoodle, if I made this GPA cut they are talking about, then you are FINE, because I have a much lower GPA. From what I understand, this first cut-off is actually a numerical consideration of all academic scores, but I am unsure of how they specifically get the number. My GREs on the other hand, were much better than my GPA, so maybe they will help me along.

cool, thanks... it must be some complicated mathmatical comparison they do, weighing all the different GPAs (total, science, requirement, recent semesters) with GREs. too bad they don't make it more public how EXACTLY each school calculates the cutoffs. well anyhow, good luck!!!!! you certainly deserve it... GPAs are so frusturating, anyways, in terms of whether or not you were overly stressed or busy in a certain semester, whether a certain prof is renowned for being difficult in which case you're *psyched* to get a B. The schools don't know all the circumstances, etc. it's all just so arbitrary and makes me want to tear my hair out!

good luck again...

If you do a little searching you'll probably find a ton of post where people have posted their stats/xp, the responses, and the outcomes.

I'm a "non-trad" with an overall GPA just below 3.4. I think Illinois also considered science GPA.

My GRE math is also pretty sucky; sucky enough that I probably won't mention it publicly unless I make it into a school!

When I asked Illinois on the phone, the lady said the cut was made purely by numbers. I didn't ask if it involved GRE scores. She was talking GPA to me, and she didn't tell me what the cut-off was. She said they had more non-resident applicants than they've had before.

So I'll stick by my other post: I think you're still in good shape if you haven't been declined an interview yet on your status page.

My name isn't at the beginning of the alphabet either...

Good luck!! :luck:

I know the feeling..I did fairly well on the verbal though, but the math.. ugh! And I spent a few months preparing for the darn test.🙁

Back on topic..I received an email from Auburn this morning. They wanted to let people know that they would be closed for the holidays. Of course my heart skipped a beat because I thought it was something else.

My heart skips a beat everytime my msn shows i have an email! Which, yes, is more than once a day! It's then very frustrating when its junk from some company newsletter i signed up to months ago!

Ah well, i'll just keep waiting i guess!

ah, yes, Tsuki! The Auburn email made my heart skip as well...I suppose after tomorrow we all have to relax, as we are sure to hear nothing until after christmas!:scared:
