This isn't really DAT help, but more of chem finals help. I know I'm not supposed to do this, but I don't know who else to ask, finals are so soon. He gave us a practice exam, and I can't seem to understand the last couple chapters we've got to go through. I was wondering if anyone knew the answers to the following questions.
Which pairing of coordination number and geometry is incorrect?
coordination number = 4; geometry, tetrahedral
coordination number = 2; geometry, linear
coordination number = 6; geometry, octahedral
coordination number = 6; geometry, tetrahedral
What is the equilibrium constant for reaction III?
I.Co(OH)3 = Co3+ + 3 OH-...............K = Ksp
II.Co3+ + 6 NH3 = Co(NH3)63+..................K = Kf
III.Co(OH)3 + 6 NH3 = Co(NH3)63+ + 3 OH-.............K = ?
K = Ksp + Kf
K = Ksp / Kf
K = Kf / Ksp
K = Ksp Kf
In which case will the metal have the largest number of unpaired electrons?
CoCl63-
Co(CO)63+
CoCl64-
Co(CO)62+
Which complex will absorb light of the longest wavelength?
Fe(H2O)63+
Fe(CN)63-
Fe(SCN)63-
FeCl63-
If you can provide answers to any or all, that'd be appreciated.
