how do you know if something is diamagnetic or paramagnetic?

Para = 1
Dia = 2

so what it means is that...
u know how the electron configuration arrows go up and down?
if it has up arrow, or up+up/down mixed arrows, that's called paramagnetic

if it has up/down arrows only , it's called diamagnetic

here is an example.
F atom has...1s^2. 2s^2, 2p^5
if u draw it(with words)

1s^2 = up/down
2s^2 = up/down
2p^5 = up/down + up/down + up

since it's combination of up+up/down, it's called paramagnetic.

I hope this helps.
