This actually is a question for EVERYONE who's interviewed... So how likely do you guys think it will be that Chi State receives pre-candidate status in June? From what they've told you in your interview anyways...or what you already know?

I'm pretty optimistic that theyll get pre-candidate status. they have a great faculty and i think ill worry about it more, when i hear back from them..haha
did u have an interview James?

i'm not too concerned. Dr. Slatkin, who is heading up CSU-COP, was the dean that opened both midwestern pharmacy school campuses in downers grove and glendale. He's really familiar with this whole process so i dont think they'll have a problem.... at least thats what i'm really hoping! Plus, pre-candidate status is the hardest to obtain, and the acpe lets schools know exactly what they need to do. They already were denied a site visit once back in the day cause acpe wouldnt approve their application cause it wasnt at their standards. And opening up CSU on the southside is important for our city. Beyond U of C, there is no other school south of that line in the city that has health science programs like the pharmacy college CSU is trying to open. but all we can really do is keep our fingers crossed! i really hope they get it though, cause this whole application/interview process was way too stressful and i do NOT want to go through that again. good luck to you all that are still waiting on a response from the university!

I hope you people do understand because of CSU there will be a surplus of pharmacists in the Chicago area. Right now, supply=demand in this area. The reason for this school is all politics and not need.

Isn't the demand higher than supply as of now at least in retail? I don't think the economy really effects healthcare that much...

i don't completely agree with you. There are plenty areas in this city of Chicago that still are in need of pharmacists. Walgreens has location based scholarships for pharmacy students that will work in areas of Chicago where there is a shortage-- like the southside of Chicago. I have several friends taking part in these location based scholarships. And while politics may be apart of it... politics are almost always apart of everything, there still is a need.

I'm telling you what the general opinion about the opening of CSU in the local pharmacy community.
Right now, Illinois averages about 200-300 open pharmacist positions. Most of the positions are in downstate Illinois, and the hope is that SIUE will be the major supplier of those positions. There are openings if you are willing to work in unsavory areas of Chicago. However, there are not that many pharmacies there to begin with.

anyone heard nething yet???:scared:

I received an email from CSU, I am happy to be part of inaugural class and hopefully be part of graduating class 2012 J All the Best everyone!

It is irksome that some pre-med students are changing to pharmacy for what they perceive to be a quicker, easier way to their high paying career. (Verified by my friend who is a pre-med student) If they don't have retail experience, they may be in for a rude awakening. Twelve hour days (on your feet), working weekends and holidays, unending stream of prescriptions to fill. I've been a tech for 4 years in a high volume retail pharmacy (1800+ prescriptions a week), with two full-time and one part time pharmacists and four techs. It can be grueling... Hope all these grads are prepared.

Where I'm at right now: Accepted at Chicago State (concerned about accreditation situation), waiting to hear from Midwestern (interview last week), on wait list at UIC, (I also find it frustrating that there have been postings on this forum from those that have been accepted at UIC with PCAT scores in the 50s. I have a 3.75 gpa, 4 years as Pharm Tech, excellent recommendations, and great interview & essay, PCAT of 84 but I'm on waitlist).

Has anyone been rejected since there interview? If so what do you think caused that. If you dont feel comfortable please PM me. Also where can I go for CSU interview information.

What hotel did you all stay at? And how did you travel if you were coming out of state

i actually stayed with a friend in downtown chicago and took the train to the school and then took a train back to the airport for my flight. a cab will run you about 50 bucks.. i was coming from midway airport.

when is ure interview Nubianssense?

What community area of Chicago is this school in? Anything below Hyde Park is dangerous.

I had my interview April 1st and I just got an email saying I'm accepted.....................

Pending they get pre-candidate status.... now i have to decide if it would be worth the 8,000 extra dollars a year to go to Midwestern instead.

Did you receive your admission packet?

Did you receive your admission packet?
I also interviewed and received the acceptance letter the same day as that person; ive received and already overnight'ed the check thats due May 5th.
The admissions package just includes the official acceptace letter, code of conduct policy and ACPE accredication status

It also includes a form for your lab coat for the white coat ceremony and number of things they require before august 1st, such as vaccines and your final transcript.

Thanks for the response.

How much time did it take for you?

Np. I think it took about 8 days to receive it. The official letter came in a manila size white and green envelope. I would suggest that if it takes more than 10 days I would go ahead and send Amalia an e-mail to let her know that you still have not receive it since you get about 3 weeks to send your deposit check.
Congrats on your acceptance!

for people that were wondering about the wait time... I found out I got in exactly one week after my interview. There are 3 other pharm techs I work with that got the acceptance 7 days after their interview date as well.

And for an update on the facebook group I made, I think the link I put on here IS working because people have been joining the group. so here it is again. click on it, log into your facebook account and see you there!

Hello IK007,

I interviewed on the fourteenth. The wait has been driving me nuts. Anyway, I broke down and emailed Amalia as I could not take it anymore. It even took a couple of days for a reply. Here is what she said and it applies to everyone waiting to hear:

The Admissions Committee has not made any decisions for applicants who interviewed on April 14th just yet. There are 3 more interview days left in May. Once these interview days are over the Admissions Committee will meet to discuss everyone who has recently interviewed and applicants that has been put on hold to determine the final number of applicants to fill the remaining seats. You will hear notification of their decision by May 15th. Thank you.

I hope this helps ease the stress of all those waiting. At least I won't be checking email every 10 minutes anymore. Good luck everybody.

Has anyone of you been put on the hold or waitlist who interviewed prior to April 14th

Hey thanks a lot for this, as you could have easily kept this VITAL information to yourself!! Yes now I won't be checking my email every hour after the hour either... good luck.

Yea Yea.. lol I'll agree its pretty crappy, but the people make the school, not the stuff thats inside.. and the faculty impressed me ALOT.

But If I do get accepted I dont plan on staying on campus anyways, so Ill get a gym membership somewhere (Never had to do that before but first time for everything right?) Oh yea do you work out?
